Subject: Motor vehicles; pick-up trucks; dogs
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to prohibit the transportation of unsecured dogs in the back of pick-up trucks.
AN ACT RELATING TO TRANSPORTING DOGS IN PICK-UP TRUCKS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 23 V.S.A. § 1454a is added to read:
§ 1454a. TRANSPORTING DOGS IN PICK-UP TRUCKS
A dog shall not be transported on a public highway in the rear portion of a pick-up truck unless it is secured in a cage or other container or otherwise secured in a manner which prevents the dog from being thrown, falling, or jumping from the vehicle.
