Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to establish a study committee to recommend how best to finance the development of instate renewable sources of energy.
AN ACT RELATING TO A STUDY COMMITTEE TO RECOMMEND HOW TO FINANCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. COMMITTEE ON FINANCING RENEWABLE ENERGY
There is established a committee on financing renewable energy development, to consist of four members of the senate, appointed by the committee on committees from the membership of the committees on finance, natural resources and energy, appropriations, and economic development, housing and general affairs; and four members of the house, appointed by the speaker from the membership of the committees on ways and means, natural resources and energy, commerce, and appropriations. The committee shall solicit suggestions from the general public, including representatives of business interests, environmental groups, labor groups, utilities, and other interested citizens, and shall develop recommendations with regard to how the state may best finance the development within the state, by means of renewable sources of energy, of 2.5 million megawatt hours of electricity. The committee members shall be entitled to necessary and actual expenses and to per diem as established under 2 V.S.A. § 406.
