Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require an audit of Medicaid cases which represent the highest ten percent of Medicaid program expenditures.
AN ACT RELATING TO MEDICAID AUDIT
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. MEDICAID AUDIT
The auditor of accounts shall investigate and audit the Medicaid cases which comprise the highest ten percent of the Medicaid program expenditures. The audit shall specifically determine if physicians are appropriately charging Medicaid for the services rendered; if recipients are using multiple doctors in order to obtain a specific treatment, service, or prescription drug that was denied by the initial doctor; or if there are potentially dangerous prescription drug interactions. A report including the findings and recommendations of the audit shall be provided to the general assembly no later than January 15, 2006.
