Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to authorize issuance of a nondriver identification card to persons over the age of 65 for a one-time fee of $25.00.

AN ACT RELATING TO ISSUANCE OF LIFETIME NONDRIVER IDENTIFICATION CARD TO PERSONS OVER THE AGE OF 65

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  23 V.S.A. § 115(a) is amended to read:

(a)  Any Vermont resident may make submit an application to the commissioner and be issued an identification card, which is shall be attested by the commissioner as to true name, correct age, and any other identifying data as that the commissioner may require which shall include, in.  In the case of minor applicants, the written consent of the applicant’s parent, guardian, or other person standing in loco parentis shall be required.  Every application for an identification card shall be signed by the applicant and shall contain such evidence of the applicant's age and identity as the commissioner may require.  The commissioner shall require payment of a A fee of $15.00 shall be paid at the time of application for an the identification card is madeNotwithstanding the provisions of this section, the commissioner, upon application of any Vermont resident who is over the age of 65, may issue a lifetime nondriver identification card for a one-time fee of $25.00.
