Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to provide and distribute automated external defibrillators to the Vermont state police.
AN ACT RELATING TO DISTRIBUTION OF AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS TO THE STATE POLICE
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. APPROPRIATION; DISTRIBUTION OF AUTOMATED
EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS (AEDs)
(a) There is appropriated from the general fund the amount of $46,000.00 for fiscal year 2006 to the department of health, division of health protection, to accomplish the purpose of this act ($45,000.00 for AED units, $250.00 for an AED training unit, and $750.00 for training costs).
(b) On or before December 31, 2005, the department of health, division of health protection, emergency medical services, shall distribute 15 AEDs and one AED training unit to the Vermont state police for use by its troops for medical emergencies throughout the state. An American Heart Association training center shall provide initial training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED use to 15 police officers at the selected barracks.
Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall take effect upon passage.
