Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to require that a person submit a DNA sample for the state database if the person is convicted of a violation of 13 V.S.A. § 3252(a)(3) (sexual assault), and the victim is under 16 and the offender is over 21 at the time of the offense.

AN ACT RELATING TO THE STATE DNA DATABASE

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  20 V.S.A. § 1932(12)(J) is amended to read:

(J)  sexual assault as defined in 13 V.S.A. §§ 3252(a)(1), (2), and (4), 3252(a)(3) if the person convicted is over the age of 21 at the time of the offense, and 3252(b) or the predecessor offenses as defined in section 3201 of Title 13;
