Subject:  Conservation and development; signs

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to allow political campaign signs within a right-of-way 30 days prior to and 15 days after an election.

AN ACT RELATING TO CAMPAIGN SIGNS

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  10 V.S.A. § 494 is amended to read:

§ 494.  EXEMPT SIGNS

The following signs are exempt from the requirements of this chapter except as indicated in section 495 of this title:

(18)  Signs which advocate for or against a candidate for office or other ballot item which are placed in a public right-of-way for the period beginning 30 days prior to the election and ending 15 days following the election.
