Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to ensure equine activities are included as farming or agricultural activities for insurance coverage purposes.
AN ACT RELATING TO INSURANCE FOR EQUINE ACTIVITY
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 8 V.S.A. § 3541(g) is added to read:
(g) The commissioner shall disapprove any form that does not include equine activity within the definition of farming or agricultural activity for insurance coverage purposes. As used in this section:
(1) "Equine" means a horse, pony, mule, or donkey.
(A) Equine shows, fairs, competitions, performances, or parades that involve any or all breeds of equines and any of the equine disciplines, including dressage, hunter and jumper horse shows, Grand Prix jumping, three‑day events, combined training, rodeos, riding, driving, pulling, cutting, polo, steeplechasing, English and western performance riding, endurance trail riding, gymkhana games, and hunting;
(C) Rides, trips, or hunts.
