Subject: Appropriations; wood floor manufacturing
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to appropriate from the general fund in fiscal year 2005 the amount of $50,000.00 to the Vermont agency of natural resources for a study of the feasibility of siting a wood floor manufacturing plant in Vermont.
AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATION FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON WOOD FLOOR MANUFACTURING
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. FINDINGS
The general assembly finds that:
(1) Vermont has an abundance of forest resources and skilled labor for harvesting and manufacturing lumber, including flooring grade lumber.
(2) Vermont is close to large flooring markets.
(3) A flooring plant, with modern technology and equipment to process low grade lumber in an efficient and cost-competitive manner, could bring the lumber into the marketing and distribution channels of a nationwide hardwood flooring company.
Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION; WOOD FLOOR MANUFACTURING
There is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2005 the amount of $50,000.00 to the agency of natural resources for a study of the feasibility of siting a wood floor manufacturing plant in Vermont.
Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall take effect upon passage.
