Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to ensure that Medicaid beneficiaries may receive medically necessary chiropractic services.
AN ACT RELATING TO CHIROPRACTIC SERVICES FOR MEDICAID BENEFICIARIES
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 33 V.S.A. § 1901(a) is amended to read:
(a) The commissioner shall take appropriate action, including making of regulations, required to administer a medical assistance program under Title XIX of the Social Security Act. The commissioner shall include coverage for chiropractic services as provided for and allowed under the Social Security Act and section 4088a of Title 8.
Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall become effective upon passage, except that the reinstatement of chiropractic benefit coverage for Medicaid and Vermont health access program beneficiaries shall become effective on or before September 1, 2005.
