Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to allow persons who are not licensed veterinarians to perform artificial insemination of semen and nonsurgical implantation of embryos on livestock.
AN ACT RELATING TO EXPANSION OF THE DEFINITION OF ACCEPTED LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 26 V.S.A. § 2401(9) is added to read:
(9) “Accepted livestock management practices” means artificial insemination of semen, nonsurgical implantation of embryos, dehorning prior to the age of six months, clipping, shoeing, and trimming the feet of animals. This phrase does not include the practice of veterinary medicine by an unlicensed person in connection with advising or performing accepted livestock management practices.
