Introduced by Representative Klein of East Montpelier
Subject: Motor vehicles; driver safety schools; points
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to authorize a licensed operator of a vehicle registered at the pleasure car rate, except the holder of a junior operator’s license, who has accumulated fewer than 10 penalty points to reduce the number of points assessed against the operator’s license by presenting to the commissioner a notarized affidavit from a licensed driver safety school, stating the operator has successfully completed a prescribed course of instruction. The reduction of points would not remove the violation from the operator’s driving record.
AN ACT RELATING TO REDUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLE POINTS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

(b) The reduction in the number of points shall not result in the removal of any recorded motor vehicle violation from the operator’s driving record.
(c) The commissioner of motor vehicles is authorized to adopt rules to implement the provisions of this section.
