Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to establish minimum standards for the approval of clinical trials within Vermont, including a requirement that drug manufacturers publicly disclose the results of clinical trials.

AN ACT RELATING TO THE DISCLOSURE OF THE RESULTS OF CLINICAL TRIALS

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  18 V.S.A. § 12 is added to read:

§ 12.  CLINICAL TRIALS; RULES; REGISTRY

The commissioner shall adopt rules specifying minimum standards for the approval of clinical trials within the state.  The standards shall ensure that, prior to approval of a clinical trial, drug manufacturers shall register the trial on a federal public registry and shall agree to make public the results of the clinical trial.
