Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to appropriate $1 million from the general fund to the department of public service for use as incentives to promote the installation of small scale renewable energy systems in the state.
AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO SERVE AS INCENTIVES TO PROMOTE INSTALLATION OF SMALL SCALE RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. APPROPRIATION
The sum of $1 million is appropriated from the general fund in FY 2006 to the department of public service, for use by the department, in consultation with the department of economic development and the Vermont renewable energy industry, to establish a program of incentive payments to promote the installation of small scale renewable energy systems in Vermont residences and businesses. This program shall promote residential or nonresidential energy systems that meet the requirements of 30 V.S.A. § 219a(a)(3)(A), (C), (D), and (E); or that are hot water heating systems that convert solar energy into thermal energy used to heat water, but limited to that property directly necessary for and used to capture, convert, or store solar energy for this purpose.
