Subject:  Veterans; office of veterans’ affairs; location

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to permit the office of veterans’ affairs to be located anywhere in the state.

AN ACT RELATING TO LOCATION OF THE OFFICE OF VETERANS’ AFFAIRS

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  20 V.S.A. § 1484 is amended to read:

§ 1484.  ASSISTANTS; OFFICE SPACE

Subject to the approval of the governor, the adjutant general may employ such assistants, expert and clerical, as may be necessary to administer the functions and duties of the adjutant general as to veterans’ affairs, and shall fix their compensation within the amounts made available by appropriation therefor.  The functions and duties of the adjutant general under this chapter shall be administered in an office located in Montpelier.
