Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require basic exchange telecommunications companies to make available the lowest residential rates to fire departments and nonprofit emergency medical service providers.
AN ACT RELATING TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICE RATES FOR FIRE DEPARTMENTS AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE PROVIDERS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 30 V.S.A. § 218(e) is added to read:
(e) A basic exchange telecommunications company shall charge municipal and volunteer fire departments and nonprofit emergency medical service providers the lowest rates, fees, or other charges charged to the company’s residential customers for the same service or unit of service.
