Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to require the commissioner of forests, parks and recreation to establish and implement a pilot project allowing the residents of the town of Poultney day use admission to the Lake St. Catherine State Park without fee or charge.  The commissioner shall prepare an annual report on the number of visitors admitted to the park, the number of town residents admitted to the park free of charge, and the amount of fees collected at the park.  The commissioner shall present the report to the house and senate committees on natural resources and energy.  The project shall sunset in 2008.

AN ACT RELATING TO A PILOT PROJECT FOR ADMISSION OF LOCAL RESIDENTS TO STATE PARKS

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  PILOT PROJECT RELATING TO THE USE OF LOCAL STATE

             FORESTS AND PARKS

The commissioner of forests, parks and recreation shall establish and implement a pilot project allowing the residents of the town of Poultney day use admission to the Lake St. Catherine State Park without fee or charge.  The commissioner shall prepare an annual report on the number of visitors admitted to the park, the number of town residents admitted to the park free of charge, and the amount of fees collected at the park.  The commissioner shall present the report to the house and senate committees on natural resources and energy by January 31 of each year.

Sec. 2.  SUNSET

This act shall expire on June 30, 2008.
