AN ACT RELATING TO AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE SURVEY OF THE BAKERSFIELD AND FAIRFIELD TOWN LINES
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. FINDINGS AND INTENT
(a) The general assembly finds that it is vested with the authority to establish town lines under § 6 of Chapter II of the Constitution of the State of Vermont.
(b) The towns of Bakersfield and Fairfield intend to petition the general assembly for approval of the location and establishment of the boundary line between the two towns.
(c) The reason for approval of the location and establishment of the boundary line is an inconsistency among various charter and legislative acts relating to the boundary line which has created anomalies of residency and tax status for properties along the boundary line.
(d) The towns intend that the boundary line be located and established according to a survey to be conducted by a licensed land surveyor who shall be hired and directed by the secretary of state.
Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION; SECRETARY OF STATE; TOWN LINE
SURVEY; BAKERSFIELD AND FAIRFIELD
There is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2005 to the secretary of state the sum of $45,000.00, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to assist in covering the costs of hiring a licensed land surveyor who shall conduct a survey of the boundary between the towns of Bakersfield and Fairfield. Upon completion, the results of the survey shall be filed with the secretary of state.
