NO. R-277.  House concurrent resolution honoring Harvey Sharrow of Charlotte.

(H.C.R.177)

Offered by:  Representative Orr of Charlotte.

Whereas, Harvey “Harv” Sharrow began his business in the early 1970s, moving his father’s old agricultural tire business from Shelburne to Charlotte, where it became known as Harv’s Tires, and

Whereas, opening his first shop in his garage under the house he built on Mt. Philo Road, Harv was one of only two agricultural tire dealers in the Chittenden - Addison County area, storing tractor tires in his backyard as well as in a neighbor’s chicken coop, and

Whereas, Harv’s Tires also serviced highway departments, the lumber industry, and other businesses with fleets of large vehicles, a line of work which required his attention at all hours of the day and night, and

Whereas, when the tire business turned away from agriculture, Harv built a larger shop next to his house, which was later expanded to three bays, for servicing the automotive sector of the tire-buying population, and

Whereas, after having served the greater Charlotte area for over 30 years of business, helping to keep vehicles of all sizes on the roads of Vermont, Harv Sharrow closed his shop in April of this year, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends best wishes to Harvey Sharrow on the conclusion of his retail business career as he focuses his attention toward maintaining his antique steam-powered tractors, fixing-up his camp, spending time with his family, and other such worthwhile endeavors, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Harvey Sharrow of Charlotte.
