NO. R-276.  House concurrent resolution honoring Brock Alan Tucker of South Burlington on becoming an Eagle Scout.


Offered by:  Representatives Pugh of South Burlington, Audette of S. Burlington, Head of S. Burlington and Kupersmith of S. Burlington.

Whereas, scouting is a movement that inspires and guides young men toward high achievements and high values as expressed in the Scout oath, law, motto, and slogan, and

Whereas, Eagle is the highest rank in Boy Scouting, and

Whereas, attainment of Eagle rank requires mastery of difficult challenges in diverse areas, and

Whereas, only 26 percent of all scouts reach the rank of Eagle, and

Whereas, Brock Alan Tucker of South Burlington is an industrious and talented young man who has been a member of the Boy Scouts for the past six years, and

Whereas, over the course of his scouting career, he has worked diligently and has earned 26 merit badges, and

Whereas, Brock has held many leadership positions in his local Boy Scout troop, and

Whereas, in pursuit of his Eagle rank, he completed a community service project in which he devoted over 120 hours to constructing three outside benches for, and renovating and landscaping the courtyard at, the Community Lutheran Church in South Burlington, a project he found to be both challenging and personally rewarding, and

Whereas, Brock has completed all of his Eagle requirements and will be inducted into this distinguished scouting fraternity at an Eagle Court of Honor, and

Whereas, he is a senior at South Burlington High School and has been a member of both the cross country and alpine ski teams, the drama club, the radio club, and he is serving as vice president of  Coffee House, a school group that provides a venue for student performing arts presentations, and

Whereas, in addition to his Eagle project, Brock volunteered over 100 hours at “The Living Room for Straight Talk,” a local youth awareness organization, and

Whereas, he will be attending Florida Institute of Technology, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Brock Alan Tucker on his earning the Boy Scout rank of Eagle and wishes him the best of success in his future  endeavors, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Brock Tucker in South Burlington.
