NO. R-275.  House concurrent resolution congratulating the 2005 Black River Union High School girls’ championship snowboarding team.

Whereas, snowboarding is an exciting winter sport that has become popular on the snowy slopes of Vermont, and

Whereas, the sport’s increasing number of young and enthusiastic participants has led to the establishment of interscholastic snowboarding competition in Vermont’s secondary schools, and

Whereas, the 2005 snowboarding championships were held on March 16 at Killington’s Bear Mountain, and

Whereas, the competition was intense, and the quality of the halfpipes and slopestyle runs was fantastic, and

Whereas, when all of the scores were tallied at the competition’s conclusion, the team from Black River Union High School in Ludlow was the winner in the girls’ division, and

Whereas, these outstanding snowboarders included Felicia Drummond, Caitlin Gagner, Hannah Macklin, Nicole Reiser, Allysa Reiser, Nicole Rohrig, Amy Sanford, Maggie Seiple, Ashlee Stillwell, Kelly Stringer, and Mairi Trimboli, and

Whereas, Coach Bob Fortuna and Assistant Coach Matt Fortuna were inspiring leaders for the team and provided expert guidance throughout the season, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the 2005 Black River Union High School girls’ championship snowboarding team, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Bob Fortuna at Black River Union High School in Ludlow.
