NO. R-245.  House concurrent resolution congratulating Alexandra M. Larrow on her academic and extracurricular accomplishments as a student at Vergennes High School.

Offered by:  Representatives Houston of Ferrisburgh and Clark of Vergennes.

     Whereas, high school students can reach lofty heights, both academically and through participation in extracurricular activities, and

     Whereas, Alexandra Larrow, a sophomore at Vergennes Union High School, is a model student who has maintained an excellent grade point average while engaged in a host of extracurricular activities, and

     Whereas, academically, she has earned high honors and won awards in her Spanish, band, and choral courses, and

     Whereas, Alexandra Larrow’s musical interests have resulted in her participation in music festivals on the district and state levels, and

     Whereas, her athletic endeavors have included serving as a varsity cheerleader, and she has been nominated as an NCA All-American Cheerleader, and

     Whereas, oratorical presentations are one of Alexandra Larrow’s special strengths, and

     Whereas, as both a freshman and sophomore, she earned recognition as the district and state winner in the God, Flag and Country speech competition, and

     Whereas, in 2005, Alexandra entered the American Legion Oratorical Contest and once again, her skillful presentation was applauded, and she was named the Vermont state winner and was subsequently designated a national finalist, and

     Whereas, Alexandra has demonstrated her commitment to serving the community through her teaching of a crafts class at the local Boys & Girls Club and volunteering in the “Smart Moves” middle school peer mentoring program, and

     Whereas, based on this record of accomplishment, she was accepted for listing in both the sports and academic editions of Who’s Who Among High School Students, and

     Whereas, Alexandra’s academic achievement, roster of extracurricular activities, and community service all contributed to her being named the 2005 Miss Vermont National Teen Senior, and

     Whereas, her family and she can take enormous pride in her success, now therefore be it

     Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

     That the General Assembly congratulates Alexandra Larrow on her academic and extracurricular accomplishments, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Alexandra Larrow in Vergennes.
