NO. R-200. House concurrent resolution congratulating F. Ann Sullivan on her receipt of the American Legion’s community service award.

Whereas, Ann Sullivan was a member of the first class to graduate from the then‑new Vergennes Union High School (VUHS) and continued on to Trinity College where she earned a teaching degree, and
Whereas, upon completing her college education, she returned to her high school alma mater to become a member of the VUHS faculty, and
Whereas, Ann Sullivan’s primary assignment during the past three decades has been as an English teacher, but she has also served as the school’s assistant principal, deputy English department chair, speech instructor, prom planner, and graduation organizer, and
Whereas, given her breadth of her experiences as a faculty member and administrator, to say nothing of her student days, she has become the school’s historian, and
Whereas, a resident of Panton, Ann Sullivan is active in civic affairs outside the schoolhouse walls, and
Whereas, for the past 15 years, she has applied her skills bringing noisy classrooms to order in her role as the Panton town moderator, and
Whereas, truly a community‑minded individual, Ann Sullivan has also served as a justice of the peace in Panton and Vergennes, and she was recently reelected to serve on the Panton selectboard, and
Whereas, in addition to her elected municipal government positions, she has served as secretary of the Bixby Memorial Library’s board of directors, and on the board of the Sam Fishman Pool, and
Whereas, a musically talented individual, Ann Sullivan is the organist and choir director at St. Peter’s church where she also sits on the parish council, and
Whereas, her notable skills as a speaker have been employed for the last nine years at the Vergennes Memorial Day Parade which she narrates, and she is requested often to serve as emcee at community events, and
Whereas, the American Legion has presented her with the organization’s community service award in recognition of her many accomplishments, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates F. Ann Sullivan on her receipt of the American Legion’s community service award, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Ann Sullivan in Panton.
