NO. R-111. House concurrent resolution congratulating Jeanne Jackman on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
Offered by: Representatives Clark of Vergennes and Houston of Ferrisburgh.
Whereas, over the course of nine decades, an individual can establish a special bond with her community, and
Whereas, Jeanne Jackman of Vergennes has developed an admirable reputation for reaching out to help those in need, and
Whereas, long before the concept of teen centers was common in localities throughout Vermont, her home was known among youngsters in Vergennes as a place where they would be welcomed and could gather after school with their peers, including her six children, and
Whereas, long a strong advocate on behalf of the poor and others in need of temporary assistance, Jeanne Jackman was proud to serve as an original board member of the John Graham Shelter in Vergennes, of which she has been a passionate supporter, and
Whereas, she was committed to nurturing, in the most effective manner possible, the many worthy charitable institutions in Addison County, and as a way of meeting this personal objective, she was a co-chair of the United Way campaign in Addison County with future governor Jim Douglas, and
Whereas, her own family has always brought her much joy, and Jeanne Jackman is proud of her six children, 16 grandchildren, and 15 great‑grandchildren, and
Whereas, March 11, 2005 marked a milestone in the Jackman family, and for Jeanne Jackman’s many friends, as she celebrated her 90th birthday, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Jeanne Jackman of Vergennes on the occasion of her 90th birthday and sends her the happiest of birthday wishes, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Jeanne Jackman in Vergennes.
