NO. R-89. House concurrent resolution honoring the members of the Vermont Specialty Food Association.

Whereas, the Vermont Specialty Food Association (VSFA) represents the producers of a diverse assortment of Vermont-produced edibles and the companies that offer support services, such as labeling, that facilitate the production, marketing, and direct retail sale to the consumer, and
Whereas, since its inception 15 years ago, this association has grown from a mere dozen members to over 100 corporations that promote Vermont‑manufactured foods around the world, and
Whereas, the categorical mix of products that VSFA members represent include bakery goods, breakfast cereals, candies, cheese and other dairy-related products, pancake and flour mixes, salsas, and a host of other culinary delights, and
Whereas, many of these companies started as family businesses and provide excellent employment opportunities for Vermonters, and
Whereas, in order to introduce members of the General Assembly to the VSFA’s delicious portfolio of foods, the association is offering a sampling of its wares on Thursday, February 24, at the State House, and
Whereas, this smorgasbord of Vermont delicacies provides VSFA member companies a unique venue for promoting the state’s vibrant food industry, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is delighted to welcome the representative companies of the Vermont Specialty Foods Association to the State House and honors these outstanding entrepreneurs for their superb representation of our state beyond its borders, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Vermont Specialty Foods Association in Montpelier.
