NO. R-28. House concurrent resolution honoring Alice T. Perry of Bellows Falls for her half century of outstanding nursing service.

Whereas, in 1954, Alice T. Perry graduated from the Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing in Keene, New Hampshire as class valedictorian, and
Whereas, upon graduation, she was appointed head pediatric nurse at Rockingham Hospital, and six months later, she was named the hospital’s medical head nurse, and
Whereas, Alice T. Perry soon transferred across the Connecticut River to the familiar surroundings of Elliot Community Hospital where she served as that medical institution’s head pediatric nurse before becoming a private duty nurse, and
Whereas, she later returned to Rockingham Memorial Hospital where she held a series of supervisory and administrative positions, including day‑evening supervisor, emergency room head nurse, in-service director, infection control nurse-director, discharge planner coordinator, policy and procedure director, interactive television site manager, and finally, director of nursing, and
Whereas, when the Springfield Hospital took over the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in 1990, Alice T. Perry became that facility’s urgent care nurse manager, a job she continues to perform with great skill and dedication, and
Whereas, in addition to her professional duties, she has been an active member and leader in many health-care-related organizations, including the American Heart Association, the Visiting Nurse Alliance, the Vermont State Nurses Association, the American Red Cross for which she has served as the Bellows Falls Area chairperson for the last 25 years, the American Cancer Society, and the Vermont Organization of Nurse Leaders, and
Whereas, Alice T. Perry has been presented numerous awards for both professional and community service, and
Whereas, she is the wife of William Perry, and they are the parents of two children, William Jr. and Debra, and the grandparents of three grandchildren, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Alice T. Perry of Bellows Falls on her half century of outstanding nursing service and community involvement, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Alice T. Perry in Bellows Falls.
