NO. R-26. House concurrent resolution congratulating the Rockingham‑based enterprises recognized in Vermont Business Magazine as among the 25 fastest growing companies in the state.

Whereas, Vermont Business Magazine annually recognizes the 25 fastest growing companies in the state in five distinctive categories: technology, manufacturing, service/retail, food, and construction, and
Whereas, prior to the 2004 list’s publication, no municipality was home to more than three of these fast growing companies, and
Whereas, the town of Rockingham is home to four of the 2004 listed companies, based on their fiscal year 2003 performances, including Chroma Technologies, SoVerNet, and Vermont Medical in the technology category, and Sonnax Industries in the manufacturing category, and
Whereas, Chroma Technologies, which manufactures optical filters and film castings, achieved a growth rate of 88.5% in the past five years and had 2003 sales totaling $14.7 million, and
Whereas, SoVerNet, a provider of voice, data, and Internet telecommunications services, had 2003 sales of $10 million and a five‑year growth rate of 132%, and
Whereas, Vermont Medical, which manufactures medical devices, had 2003 sales that reached $8.5 million and a five‑year growth rate of 93.2%, and
Whereas, Sonnax Industries, which provides automotive transmission parts and torque converter parts for the aftermarket, had 2003 sales of $29 million and a 96% five‑year growth rate, and
Whereas, these expanding companies provide an important source of employment in Windham County, and they are bringing southeastern Vermont’s economy into the 21st century, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Chroma Technologies, SoVerNet, Vermont Medical, and Sonnax Industries on being honored on the pages of Vermont Business Magazine’s as among the 25 fastest growing companies in the state, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to each of the companies cited in this resolution.
