NO. R-22.  House concurrent resolution congratulating the 2004 Saxtons River Babe Ruth baseball team.

(H.C.R.7)

Offered by:  Representatives Obuchowski of Rockingham and Partridge of Windham.

Whereas, each summer, thousands of youngsters, ages 13 to 16, play the nation’s national pastime as members of a Babe Ruth baseball team, and

Whereas, the 2004 Babe Ruth team in Saxtons River played with great skill and enthusiasm, and

Whereas, when the squad’s regular season had concluded, it had compiled a most impressive record of 11-0-1, and

Whereas, even its one tie against the team from Charlestown, New Hampshire was avenged when the mighty batters from the Vermont side of the Connecticut River defeated their only 2004 victorious opponent in the Fall Mountain Baseball League championship game by an impressive 7-1, and

Whereas, this special victory enabled the team to conclude its 2004 baseball odyssey campaign with a final record of 14-0-1, and 

Whereas, these outstanding Vermont boys of summer include Nate Nardino, Issac Avenia-Tapper, Mike Donnellan, Austin Delonge, Sam Stickney, Liam Barnett, Ethan Tapper, Jake Saunders, David Lockerby, Taj Schottland, Kyle Mack, Mattias Goldman-Peake, and Grahame Payton, and

Whereas, team manager Brendan Carroll proved of great assistance to the players throughout the regular and playoff seasons, and

Whereas, coaches Dr. Matt Peake and Pete Stickney provided outstanding guidance and leadership which enabled the Saxtons River Babe Ruth baseball  team to compete with great success, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the 2004 Saxtons River Babe Ruth baseball team on its winning the 2004 Fall Mountain League championship, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Dr. Matt Peake and Pete Stickney in Saxtons River.
