ACT NO. 136
Labor; unemployment compensation insurance; direct sellers
This act excludes direct sellers from the requirement that they be covered by unemployment compensation. Direct sellers are individuals who sell consumer products, including services, in other peoples' homes or from a location that is not a permanent retail establishment; whose remuneration is derived directly from proceeds of the sales and not based on hours worked; and whose services are performed pursuant to a written contract that states that the individual is not to be considered an employee for state or federal taxing purposes.
