ACT NO. 89
Motor vehicles; after-market tinting
This act authorizes the installation of after-market tinting material on the front side windows of a motor vehicle by persons certified by a physician or an optometrist as having a medical necessity to be shielded from the rays of the sun. The certification must be renewed every four years unless the physician or optometrist has previously certified to the commissioner of motor vehicles that the applicant's condition is permanent and stable. The exemption terminates upon the sale of the approved vehicle, and at that time the tinting must be removed by the seller. If the material tears or bubbles or is otherwise worn to prohibit clear vision, it must be removed or replaced.
