ACT NO. 42
Fish and wildlife; fish importation permit; fee fishing; agent fees
This act expands the prohibition against introducing fish into public waters frequented by trout or salmon to prohibit introduction of fish, other than salmon and trout, into any Vermont waters except those that lack access to other waters; directs the commissioner of fish and wildlife to develop a list of non-native fish that have the potential to harm indigenous fish and to prohibit their importation except that the commissioner may issue a permit for such importation for purposes of research or education; expands the authority of the commissioner of fish and wildlife to regulate fee fishing businesses in order to protect the health of Vermont's fish population; expands the authority of the secretary of
agriculture, food and markets from health testing of cultured trout to include all cultured fish provided to fish farms and fee fishing businesses; and stipulates that fees collected by fish and wildlife licensing agents shall be paid promptly to the state.
