ACT NO. 3
Clinical trials; cancer
This act removes the sunset provision applicable to the law requiring health benefit plans to provide coverage for routine costs for patients who participate in cancer clinical trials. In addition, it permits coverage for clinical trials conducted by cancer care providers located outside Vermont, provided certain criteria are met. Health insurers are permitted to require patients participating in clinical trials administered by a provider not in the health plan's provider network to receive routine follow-up care within the plan's network, unless the patient's cancer care provider determines this would not be in the best interest of the patient.
