ACT NO. 2
Prescription drugs; reimportation; maintenance drugs
This act enters Vermont into the I-SaveRx program run by the state of Illinois. The I-SaveRx program provides Vermont residents with access to maintenance prescription drugs purchased through pharmacies in the United Kingdom and Canada. The act allows Vermont to participate in the joint work group established by Illinois, which chooses the drugs offered by the program, provides for inspections of the participating pharmacies and wholesalers, and ensures the pharmacies comply with standards of practice. The act affirms the state's sovereign immunity for any injury or damage caused by a product obtained through the program.
This act also directs the secretary of human services to implement the act, including establishing a group to work on the outreach and promotion of the program.
