NO. R-174.  House concurrent resolution honoring former Ripton Town Clerk and Treasurer Timothy Hanson.

Offered by:  Representative Jewett of Ripton.

Offered by:  Senator Ayer of Addison District and Senator Giard of Addison District.

Whereas, the town of Ripton was extremely fortunate to have Timothy Hanson serve as the municipality’s town clerk and treasurer for 19 years, the second longest tenure of any Ripton town clerk, and

Whereas, over the course of 22 years, he has served many official roles in Ripton’s municipal government, including clerk of selectmen, school treasurer, delinquent tax collector, fire chief, emergency medical technician, solid waste district delegate, pound keeper, and dog warden, and

Whereas, in addition to this extremely impressive list of official duties, which broadly encompasses nearly every aspect of town governance, Timothy Hanson also served in a number of other posts on an unofficial basis, including town administrator, town planner, lister tax-preparer, and medical advisor, and

Whereas, his qualifications to serve as a medical advisor and emergency medical technician were premised on his training as a nurse, and

Whereas, amazingly, despite his multiple municipal assignments, Timothy Hanson found the time to devote most weekends to working as a nurse for the Addison Home Health and Hospice Agency, and

Whereas, while he has stepped down as town clerk, his assistance to the community will continue, and

Whereas, Timothy Hanson’s willingness to contribute to the smooth functioning of Ripton’s municipal affairs in nearly any imaginable capacity is to be greatly admired, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly recognizes Timothy Hanson’s extraordinary dedication to serving the citizens of Ripton for over two decades and wishes him every success in his future endeavors, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Timothy Hanson and to the Ripton town clerk.
