Whereas, the NCAA annual alpine skiing championships are a showcase of the nation’s top men and women collegiate skiers, and
Whereas, one of the major events at the NCAA alpine skiing championships, held in 2005 at the Mount Mansfield Ski Resort, was the women’s slalom, and
Whereas, the slalom requires swiftness and agility as the skier speeds down the course to the finish line, and
Whereas, when all the women skiers had completed the slalom runs, Middlebury College freshman, and Killington resident, Megan Hughes was the proud holder of the event’s quickest time, and
Whereas, Megan’s time of 1:25.49 was an outstanding result for this accomplished alpine skier, and
Whereas, her victory was a highlight for the Middlebury Panthers team, and
Whereas, 2005 has been an impressive skiing season for Megan as she was also the top U.S. finisher at the World University Games skiing competition in Innsbruck, Austria, and
Whereas, as a freshman, Megan Hughes has a bright future in the Middlebury College competitive alpine skiing program, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Megan Hughes of Killington on her winning the 2005 NCAA women’s slalom championship, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Megan Hughes in Killington.
