Whereas, Amanda Mitteer of Brattleboro has achieved an impressive record of academic and civic accomplishments, and
Whereas, she graduated near the top of her class from Brattleboro Union High School where she qualified for membership in the National Honor Society and participated in many extracurricular activities, and
Whereas, at the University of Vermont, Amanda Mitteer earned an undergraduate degree in secondary education, met the academic qualifications to join Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor’s Society), joined Alpha Phi Omega (Community Service Group), and she became an advocate for those with fibromyalgia, a common condition characterized by widespread pain in joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues, and
Whereas, her advocacy work on behalf of persons with fibromyalgia continued while she was earning her law degree at the Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire, and
Whereas, Amanda Mitteer is the recipient of a National Fibromyalgia Association advocacy award, and
Whereas, while pursuing her academic studies and professional career, she has simultaneously striven diligently to become Miss Vermont USA, placing as the third runner-up on her first try, advancing to first-runner-up the next year, and this last year she won the title, and will be participating in the Miss U.S.A. national event in April, and
Whereas, her personal accomplishments and community service merit special recognition, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Amanda Mitteer on her winning the Miss Vermont USA title, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Amanda Mitteer in Brattleboro.
