NO. R-129. House concurrent resolution congratulating the Mount Mansfield Union High School 2005 Cougars girls’ alpine skiing state championship ski team.

Whereas, remembering their second place finish in 2004, the Mount Mansfield Union High School (MMUHS) girls’ alpine ski team strove determinedly to win the state championship in 2005, and
Whereas, when the MMUHS skiers arrived for the two-event state meet at Mount Ellen, they were both physically and psychologically prepared to ski speedily and smoothly down the slopes, and
Whereas, the Cougars were provided the assistance of an ideal day from a meteorological perspective for ski racing, and
Whereas, MMUHS’s overall performance on the trails surpassed that of any competitor as the Cougars’ swift and steady runs resulted in the team’s garnering the fewest points, the objective in competitive skiing, and
Whereas, especially noteworthy was the individual skiing of Cougar Katie Wry who captured first place honors in the giant slalom, completing the course in 58.29 seconds and finished second among the slalom racers with a time of 1.31.13, and
Whereas, Cougar alpine skiers Rachel Beauregard, Ulana Bihun, Whitney Davis, Hanna Denison, Kiesha Desautels, Kim Desautels, Allie Foust, Julie Goodman, Meghan McLaughlin, Holly Mumford, Kate Wigg, Erin Wry, and Katie Wry each skied with precision and style throughout the season, and
Whereas, Coach Warren Palmer and Assistant Coach Paul Curtiss deserve credit for guiding their skiers to their championship triumph, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the Mount Mansfield Union High School 2005 Cougars girls’ alpine skiing state championship ski team, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Warren Palmer at Mount Mansfield Union High School.
