Whereas, public access television encourages and enables citizens to communicate directly with their communities, and
Whereas, in Manchester, many interested viewers and committed volunteers support the public access television channel, and
Whereas, one of the most committed of these volunteers is Donald “Don” Keelan who created the program “Q & A Live,” and
Whereas, “Q & A Live” provides the channel’s viewers a variety of informative programs featuring lively topics with interesting guests, and
Whereas, this cablecast included both political and instructional types of interviews as Don Keelan provided candidates for public office an opportunity to be heard, and officials from different governmental offices, such as the court diversion program, a forum to educate the public concerning the operation and purpose of their programs, and
Whereas, as the “Q & A Live” host, Don Keelan has encouraged the viewers to participate through telephone calls, in which they could offer questions and comments, and
Whereas, during the five years he has hosted the program, “Q & A Live” has achieved popular success and positive audience response, and
Whereas, the program has featured over 100 guests discussing topics related to cultural affairs, education, health, government and politics, and religion, and
Whereas, the communities of Bennington County have appreciated Don Keelan’s thoroughly prepared research, tough questions, and diversity of guests, including two governors, and
Whereas, after five years of extraordinary cablecasts, Don Keelan will be concluding his role as the “Q & A Live” host in March 2005, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Donald Keelan for his outstanding contribution to improving civic engagement in the north shire of Bennington County through his “Q & A Live” public access cable television program, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Donald Keelan in Manchester.
