NO. R-179. JOINT RESOLUTION in memory of Addison District Probate Court Register Marguerite Burnham.

Whereas, Marguerite Burnham began her service with the Addison District Probate Court on June 13, 1976 as a clerk, and

Whereas, Marguerite Burnham was appointed Register of the Addison Probate Court on July 1, 1979 by the Honorable Stuart Witherell, Addison District Probate Judge, and

Whereas, Marguerite Burnham held the position of Register until her untimely passing on March 26, 2001, serving under four successive Probate Judges, and

Whereas, during the quarter century of her dedicated service to the citizens of Addison County, Marguerite Burnham was known for the caring and professional style in which she executed the duties of Register of the Probate Court, frequently going far beyond the usual expectations of her office, and

Whereas, both the lay and legal community deeply regret the loss to the institution of the Addison District Probate Court occasioned by the passing of Marguerite Burnham, and

Whereas, the Addison County Bar Association will officially recognize Marguerite Burnhamís quarter century as Addison District Probate Court Register at a special ceremony on June 14, 2001, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends its condolences to the family of Marguerite Burnham whose 25 years of service as Addison District Probate Court Register constituted an exemplary record of public service, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Addison District Probate Court and to Beth Burnham and Kim Burnham.
