NO. R-150. JOINT RESOLUTION congratulating Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice on the occasion of its 90th anniversary.

Whereas, many Vermonters who require either short or long-term medical care, be it basic or highly specialized, are involuntarily homebound, and

Whereas, these individuals are unable to travel to a hospital or health clinic to receive their required medical treatment, and

Whereas, the regional home health agencies provide essential medical support to these homebound Vermonters, and

Whereas, in Washington County and portions of Orange County, the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice (CVHH&H) has been serving Vermonters since 1911, and

Whereas, in order to more compassionately comfort the terminally ill, CVHH&H has been providing hospice care since 1981, and

Whereas, CVHH&H employs over 300 medical and support staff, including outstanding registered nurses whose services are available, if needed, 24 hours per day and 365 days each year, and

Whereas, at any given moment, CVHH&H serves 800 persons with one of five types of medical assistance, including home care, hospice care, long-term care, maternal child care and health promotional activities, such as giving thousands of flu shots on an annual basis, and

Whereas, during the year 2000, the CVHH&H staff made 124,000 visits, traveled 910,000 miles and provided over $244,000.00 in charitable care, and

Whereas, CVHH&H has been a special and essential lifeline for thousands of central Vermontís residents, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends special congratulatory wishes to the staff and management of Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice as the organization commemorates 90 years of providing outstanding home-based health care services, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Eileen Blake at Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice in Barre.
