NO. R-125. JOINT RESOLUTION honoring Richard "Dick" and Frances "Fran" Hunt for their exemplary volunteer activities in Bennington.

Whereas, dedicated volunteers are the lifeblood of charitable, civic organizations, and

Whereas, a husband-and-wife team who are both active volunteers is an even greater bonus to a community’s nonprofit infrastructure, and

Whereas, Richard "Dick" and Frances "Fran" Hunt epitomize the ideal volunteer couple, and

Whereas, Dick Hunt was a 20-year employee at Mt. Anthony Union High School, and the senior class of 1976 dedicated the annual yearbook in his honor, and

Whereas, his wife Fran was employed by Union Carbide/Eveready and retired after 22 years, and

Whereas, Dick Hunt has volunteered for 23 years as a member of the Bennington Volunteer Fire Department, and has had special responsibility for matters relating to traffic control, and

Whereas, the Bennington Battle Day Parade, which the Bennington Volunteer Fire Department sponsors, has honored Dick Hunt by designating him as Grand Marshal, and

Whereas, Dick Hunt has operated the public address system at numerous events that charitable and nonprofit events sponsor each year, and

Whereas, Fran Hunt has volunteered countless hours for a variety of organizations, including the Red Cross, R.S.V.P. and the First Baptist Church of Bennington, and

Whereas, as a volunteer, Fran Hunt has served as a town meter maid, and as a collector of birth certificate data in Windham County for the Department of Health, and

Whereas, Fran and Dick Hunt are the joint recipients of the most-recently granted Bennington Chamber of Commerce’s D. Ed Moore Award in honor of their outstanding community service, and

Whereas, Fran and Dick Hunt, who, on April 29, 2001 will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, are the parents of three sons, Terry, Timmy and Roger, two daughters, Krystal and Melodie, the grandparents of ten grandchildren, and the great-grandparents of two great-grandchildren, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly is pleased to honor Frances "Fran" and Richard "Dick" Hunt for their many years of exemplary community service, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Fran and Dick Hunt in Bennington.
