NO. R-117. JOINT RESOLUTION congratulating the 2000-2001 Mt. Anthony Union High School Patriots’ girls’ basketball team.

Whereas, the 2000-2001 Mt. Anthony Union High School Patriots’ girls’ basketball team mastered the fine art of basketball in a manner that deserves great respect and acclaim, and

Whereas, the girl Patriots played impressively on the court throughout the season as their record of consecutive victories continued to accumulate, and

Whereas, they entered the Division I championship game fortified with a 22-game consecutive winning streak, better than any other Vermont girls’ basketball team, and

Whereas, during the first half of this final and most important game of the year, the Patriots stayed abreast with their opponents from Rice Memorial High School, and ended the first half tied at 22-all, and

Whereas, although the Rice girls’ 47-point surge in the second half resulted in winning the game 69-51, the 2001 girls’ basketball Patriots should be extremely proud of their outstanding accomplishments on the hardwood floor, and

Whereas, this excellent squad of basketball players, led by captains Laura Dailey and Courtney Lugwig, and their teammates Diana House, Patricia Johnson, Kellie Shaw, Tallie Martin, Meagan McGuire, Bethany Pierce, Kaitlin Brooks, Kasha Stevenson, Corrigan Wright, Katie Dailey, Kathleen Daley, Kayla Corbett, and statisticians Meghan Tatro and Jenn Letourneau, are each to be commended for superb season-long effort, and

Whereas, Head Coach Leo Reynolds, and his much valued assistant coaches Paul Rene and Bill Martin, enabled the Patriots to soar to the highest competitive athletic plateau, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly is pleased to congratulate the Mt. Anthony Union High School Patriots’ girls’ basketball team for a season of thrilling play, and for maintaining the longest consecutive winning streak in Vermont high school girls’ basketball during the 2000-2001 season, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Head Coach Leo Reynolds and Athletic Director Tim Brown at Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington.
