NO. R-55. JOINT RESOLUTION EXTENDING BEST 80TH BIRTHDAY WISHES TO FORMER REPRESENTATIVE THEODORE H. GRIFFIN.

Whereas, Theodore H. Griffin was born in New York City on January 21, 1921, and

Whereas, as a youth, he moved to Rutland where he attended grade school, and later graduated from the Clark Preparatory School in Hanover, New Hampshire, and

Whereas, during World War II, Theodore H. Griffin was a member of the United States Army Medical Corps, and he served in both Italy and the Philippines, and

Whereas, after returning to Vermont and marrying Carolyn Bridges in 1946, he moved to Pittsfield where he was active in the civic life of the community, and

Whereas, Theodore H. Griffin became both Pittsfield’s fire chief and overseer of the poor, and

Whereas, he earned the respect of his fellow citizens in Pittsfield, and in 1952, they elected him to represent them in the House of Representatives, and

Whereas, Theodore H. Griffin began a family tradition of legislative service that is now continued by his grand-nephew Representative Thomas DePoy of Rutland City, and

Whereas, he subsequently relocated to Manatee County, Florida where he spent a decade as a member of the Manatee County School Board, and

Whereas, Theodore H. Griffin and his wife Carolyn are the parents of a son Rusty, a daughter Nancy, the grandparents of five grandchildren, and the great- grandparents of three great-grandchildren, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends happy 80th birthday greetings to former Representative Theodore H. Griffin of Pittsfield, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to former Representative Theodore H. Griffin in Orange Park, Florida.
