NO. R-29. JOINT RESOLUTION honoring the U-32 Raidersí 2000 Division IV championship football team.

Whereas, the 2000 U-32 football Raiders proved an unbeatable powerhouse among their rivals throughout the 2000 gridiron campaign, and

Whereas, the Raidersí consistently outstanding play was on display in their regular season finale as they convincingly defeated cross-town rival Montpelier High School by the impressive score of 48-20, and

Whereas, the 7-0 record that the Raiders carried into the post-season inspired them to even greater accomplishments during the two-round playoff competition, as they rocketed from a tied first half against the same Montpelier Solons team to an impressive 54-14 victory, advancing them into the championship game, and

Whereas, the Raiders then confronted, for the championship crown, the Mount Abraham Union High School Eagles, whom the Raiders had already soundly defeated on two occasions during the fall, and

Whereas, despite the Eaglesí surprisingly strong first-half performance, resulting in a 12-8 half-time lead, the Raiders proved once again that adversity is their best motivation as U-32's Jason Carriveau carried the pigskin ball 23 times for a total of 108 yards, and thus ensured his team's ultimate 24-14 triumph, and

Whereas, every U-32 Raider player, including Troy Warren, Zach Fitch, Josh Sayers, Chad Papineau, Iain Lanza, Andrew Berry, Nate Picard, Nick Vandenberb, Jeff Butterfield, Jason Carrriveau, Adam Mackay, Nick Diedrich, Brandon Santaw, Kyle Dailey, Tom Chenette, Ed Berry, Cresswell Codling, Nick Alden, Eribis Jennison, Dan Beem, Albie Borne, T.J. Stanley, Travis Weeks, Kyle Magida, Jeremy Davis, Zeb Farnham, George Berry, Brian Rossiter, Richard Nicholson and Andrew Murphy, was an essential contributor to the team's remarkable undefeated season, and

Whereas, the coaching staff, consisting of Head Coach Mike Law, able Assistant Coaches Dan Winters, Elias Mokhiber and Carmine Denisio and invaluable Volunteer Coach James Moreau, inspired and guided the Raiders to every victory, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly is pleased to congratulate the U-32 football Raiders on winning the 2000 Division IV championship crown, and on their perfect 9-0 undefeated season, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Head Coach Mike Law at U-32 Union High School.
