Whereas, 24 teenagers, and their teachers, Adnan Vojic, Hana Dzanic, Emir Karabegovic, Ena Karabegovic, Ines Delic, Elvira Sejdic, Mirsada Puhovac, Tamara Tabakovic, Mehmed Becic, Vedrana Halilovic, Tanja Stjepanovic, Igor Stakic, Jasmin Zecic, Ruzica Blazanovic, Vladimir Erkic, Srdjan Kisic, Zlata Saric, Vladimir Setka, Almira Aleckovic, Vedran Kordic, Marko Markic, Maja Djogic, Adi Kasumacic, Sladjana Custovic, Jana Mandeganja, Divna Spaic, Valentina Dzodzo and Nebojsa Krulj, from Bosnia-Herzegovina are visiting Vermont as participants in a Youth Leadership Program that Project Harmony, Inc. of Waitsfield, Vermont has organized, and

Whereas, the United States Embassy in Sarajevo selected these exceptional individuals as representatives of their country to learn about the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy, student activism, civic education, leadership and community service, and

Whereas, these students and their teachers are living with their Vermont counterparts while attending classes at Harwood Union High School and Champlain Valley High School, participating in leadership activities with Vermont youth activists, and

Whereas, the United States Department of State chose Project Harmony of Waitsfield, Vermont to organize the Bosnia-Herzegovina Youth Leadership Program because of the organizationís national reputation and record of achievement in international educational exchange programs, and

Whereas, on Friday, January 19, the programís participants are visiting the Vermont State House, and are meeting with leaders in Vermont state government to learn about democracy building and citizen activism, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly welcomes the participants of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Youth Leadership Program to Vermont, and commends their efforts to become actively involved in the rebuilding of their nation, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Project Harmony, Inc., the Bosnia-Herzegovina Youth Leadership Program, and to each of the students and teachers from Bosnia-Herzegovina who are participating in this unique educational program.
