NO. R-24. JOINT RESOLUTION in memory of former Representative Robert E. Graf.

Whereas, Robert E. Graf was a lifelong resident of Bennington County, and
Whereas, upon graduating from St. Lawrence University, he devoted himself to tilling Vermontís rich land as a farmer, and
Whereas, Robert E. Grafís agricultural interests led him to become a soil conservation supervisor and an active participant in the National Association of Soil and Water Conservation and the Vermont Farm Bureau, where he served a term as president, and
Whereas, he sought to publicly serve the citizens of Rupert, his hometown, and was elected to the offices of justice of the peace and town auditor, and
Whereas, Robert E. Graf was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1958 as the member from Rupert, and
Whereas, the caliber of his representational service was highly respected, and he continued to serve in the House for a quarter of a century, through 1984, and
Whereas, Robert E. Graf also sat on the Bennington County Regional Commission, and
Whereas, he was a veteran Mason and Shriner, a member of Woodmen of America and had participated in the Lady Bird Johnson Beautification Project, and
Whereas, Robert E. Graf and his wife Lois were married for 57 years and were the parents of three daughters, Marcia, Vicki and Cindi, the grandparents of eight grandchildren and the great-grandparents of three great-grandchildren, and
Whereas, the citizens of Rupert were saddened at the passing of Robert Graf who had been an outstanding public servant on the local and state levels, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly extends its condolences to the family of the former member from Rupert, Robert E. Graf, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Lois Graf in Rupert.
