NO. M-10. AN ACT RELATING TO THE VILLAGE OF ALBURG CHARTER.

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1. APPROVAL OF CHARTER AMENDMENT

The charter of the Village of Alburg is amended as provided in this act. Proposals of amendment were approved by the voters on May 1, 2001.

Sec. 2. Sec. 3 of the Charter is amended to read:

Sec. 3. At each annual meeting of said village there shall be elected the following officers: *[a president of the Village,]* one trustee, a clerk, treasurer, collector and one auditor. Such elections shall be by ballot if called for, the terms of office of officers elected at the annual meeting shall commence at the time of their election and continue for one year, and until their successors are chosen and qualified, except for the term of office of trustee whose term will be five years and the *[terms]* term of office of auditor whose term will be three years.

Sec. 3. Sec. 6 of the Charter is amended to read:

Sec. 6. *[The president of the village shall be ex-officio a member of the board of trustees and president thereof. He shall preside at village meetings]* *[when present, and in his absence the]* The senior member of the board of trustees shall preside at village meetings. The presiding officer in a village meeting shall have the same power and duties as a moderator in town meetings.
