NO. R-299. JOINT RESOLUTION HONORING BECKY CASSIDY ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM 15 YEARS OF SERVICE TO FIRST NIGHT BURLINGTON.

Whereas, Becky Cassidy of South Burlington has been associated with First Night Burlington since its inception on December 31, 1984, as the fourth First Night in the United States, and

Whereas, she ably served on its board of directors from 1984 until 1993 and as the capable chairperson of the board from 1988 to 1993, and

Whereas, Becky Cassidy served as the organization’s excellent executive director from 1993 through the millennial observance on December 31, 1999, and

Whereas, First Night Burlington has flourished as a celebration for 17 New Years’ Eves as a nonalcoholic festival of the arts, and

Whereas, the outstanding leadership of Becky Cassidy is a major reason for the continuing success of First Night Burlington, and

Whereas, First Night Burlington has served as a model for the establishment of other first nights in municipalities across the United States, and

Whereas, Becky Cassidy is retiring as Executive Director of First Night Burlington, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Becky Cassidy on her outstanding record of accomplishment during her 15 years of devoted service to First Night Burlington, and wishes her every success in her future endeavors, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Becky Cassidy and to First Night Burlington.
