NO. R-295. JOINT RESOLUTION HONORING CARROLL KETCHUM FOR HIS PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SECTOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TOWN OF BETHEL.

Whereas, Carroll Ketchum has resided in Bethel for many years, and

Whereas, in 1960, he commenced his banking career on the staff of the former White River National Bank, and

Whereas, Carroll Ketchum remained with the bank for the next four decades, as it changed ownership and names on several occasions, and rose to the position of manager of the Bethel and Chelsea offices of the Mascoma National Bank, and

Whereas, throughout his career, Carroll Ketchum has deservedly earned the reputation and respect of his community as a gentleman of impeccable integrity and honesty, and

Whereas, when not working in his banking capacity, Carroll Ketchum was busily engaged in many community organizations and important responsibilities, and

Whereas, in the public sector, Carroll Ketchum has been repeatedly elected to his current position of Bethel Town Moderator and has presided over town meetings in a highly competent and unbiased manner, and

Whereas, he has served the citizens of Bethel as a trustee of public funds, and

Whereas, in the civic and fraternal realm, Carroll Ketchum is a member of the Masons and of the Bethel Rotary Club of which he has twice been elected President, and

Whereas, Carroll Ketchum is an active member of the United Church of Bethel and has chaired the church’s prudential committee, and

Whereas, after 40 years, Carroll Ketchum has decided to conclude his exemplary banking career, and

Whereas, his colleagues at the bank will miss his wise counsel and experienced leadership, and

Whereas, although Carroll Ketchum is retiring from his professional career, his volunteer activities will now occupy his attention as he will be devoting his energy to improving the quality of life in the Bethel community at large, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly is pleased to honor Carroll Ketchum for his wonderful work in the private and public sectors that has benefited so many persons and wishes him many happy and personally satisfying years ahead, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Carroll Ketchum in Bethel.
