Whereas, the Danville girls' basketball Indians, having compiled an impressive 19-3 regular and post-season record, were eager and prepared to proficiently dribble and shoot the orange ball to a Division IV title, and

Whereas, only their final opponents, the undefeated and powerful, and competitively savvy Canaan Eagles could block Danville's victorious ambition, and

Whereas, once the championship game tipped off at the Barre Auditorium, Danville topped the scoring for nearly the entire contest, and

Whereas, at one juncture in the third quarter, when Danville's forward drive to the title was momentarily stymied by Canaan's tying the score, the Indians immediately rebounded, and

Whereas, during the following four minutes, Danville's players outscored their formidable opponents from the north 10-3, in large measure through the completion of key 3 and 2-point foul shot opportunities, and

Whereas, the ever alert Danville women greatly enhanced their winning prospects as they out-rebounded the Eagles 47-35, and

Whereas, the outstanding season-long individual performances and teamwork of Heather Lynaugh, Heather Chamberlin, Wendy Sicard, Lacy Ward, Lisa Ward, Chris Riendeau, Emily Hoffer, Jessi Stevenson, Jessi Therrien, Kate Wakefield and Elissa Denton, clearly merit the special recognition that accompanies a divisional championship, and

Whereas, the 1999-2000 season's fantastic finale, culminating in the Division IV title, is a tribute to the superb coaching skills of both Head Coach Tammy Rainville, Assistant Coach Ron Sicard and the bookkeeping of Nancy Frizzell, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the 2000 Division IV champion Danville High School Indians girls' basketball team on an outstanding season of athletic competition and sports-womenship, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Coach Tammy Rainville at Danville High School.
